Responsibilities

The exercise specialist is responsible in coordination with the cardiac conditioning nurse for routine operations of the cardiac-conditioning program. This responsibility includes facilitating the patients functional progression by ensuring standards of exercise principles as individually prescribed according to specific cardiac diagnosis. This position is responsible for support of patient progress in a manner consistent with the existing and developing policies and in accordance with the mission statement.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • B.S./ B.A. or equivalent degree with emphasis in exercise physiology.

Licensure:

  • Current BLS/ACLS certification required.

Experience:

  • Proficiency with cardiac telemetry monitoring.

  • Familiarity with treatment for specific cardiac diagnoses.

  • Proficiency with prescribing exercise for a variety of patient populations both diseases and healthy.

Special Skills:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and assisting in lifting and positioning of patients good manual and finger dexterity and good hand and eye coordination.

  • Requires walking bending and occasional standing for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires some lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing working in stressful or emergency situations and some exposure to communicable diseases.

  • Must be able to demonstrate proper stretching techniques and use of aerobic exercise equipment.

Pay Range

$49.36 - $57.47 /hour
