FINANCIAL OFFICER DONOR ADVISED FUNDS

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a member of the Donor Advised Fund (DAF) team, this position supports the DAF offering. DAFs sponsored by The American Gift Fund (AGF), an independent 501(c)(3) public charity founded by the predecessors of RBC Trust Company (Delaware) Ltd. (RBCT) in 1998 and governed by an independent Board of Directors, are administered by the DAF team. RBCT serves as Trustee and provides certain investment management and administrative services pursuant to a service agreement. RBCT is a wholly owned subsidiary of City National Bank (CNB), an RBC Company. This position will be a colleague of the bank, subject to its human resources, and responsible for the administration of the day-to-day activities of DAF.

As part of a dedicated and collaborative team, while supporting and reporting to the Principal Financial Officer, this position is responsible for supporting the financial reporting requirements of DAF. The Financial Officer supports the preparation of all financial reports and acts as a supporting liaison between the bank and DAFs auditors and State filing consultants in support of required annual regularity filings including 990, 990T, Audited Financial Statements, and state submissions. This role also supports initiatives related to process improvements, report automations, policies and procedures documentation and other special projects as needed. The team maintains an absolute user-experience focus while providing expertise in all aspects of client servicing. The position works with both internal and external business partners including financial advisors, investment consultants, and portfolio managers to ensure efficient administration and operation of the DAF offering.

What you will do

  • Support the reporting function of the public donor advised fund

  • Work towards meeting and surpassing all internal and external audit requirements.

  • Support interaction between charity auditors, tax filing consultants, and state filing consultants.

  • Support various accounting and reporting analyses and technical accounting research when needed. Maintain technical understanding of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.

  • Partner with DAF team colleagues to ensure optimal user experience.

  • Act as a key contact for internal and external inquiries related to donor advised fund financial results and related management reports.

  • Provide best-in-class client service through timely, thoughtful, and thorough responses to client and partner inquiries.

  • Collaborate and partner with supporting departments and key business partners, including new business, operations, business development, risk, marketing, and accounting to ensure sound and efficient operations.

  • Support and participate in organizational initiatives and projects.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • 4 years of experience in public charities, audit, accounting, trusts, financial services, or banking

  • 2 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting of charitable organizations

  • 2 years of experience using charitable organization accounting or financial reporting software

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) preferred

  • Strong sense of ownership, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking, while applying a client-perspective mindset to all responsibilities.

  • Expertise of US GAAP accounting standards, including those relating to public charities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage numerous priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to execute thoughtful analysis and acting with a sense of urgency and purpose when facing challenges.

  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with colleagues of various levels of accounting experience.

  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office (e.g., TEAMS, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and financial modeling.

  • Ability to think creatively, identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, and work with colleagues to implement solutions.

  • Focus to champion innovation with a relentless drive to improving user experience.

  • Ability to learn new programs and software packages with minimal assistance.

  • Demonstrates the ability to contribute positively in a fully inclusive environment, while having the support, resources, and backing from one of the largest and most prestigious financial organizations.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $34.18 - $54.58 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
