This Opportunity – Construction Engineer/Manager, WPB, Fl

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Engineer/Manager for our West Palm Beach, Fl office. This employee will be involved in projects with our Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Projects may span multiple disciplines, such as Everglades Restoration, Reservoir Construction, Earthwork/Embankment, Water Control Structures, Site Grading, Heavy Civil, Roadway, Sitework, Stormwater Drainage, Specialty Geotechnical construction, etc., in the West Palm Beach, Fl and Greater South Florida Market.

Your Roles/Responsibilities

  • Plans, reviews and assigns work of subordinate field or construction field office personnel

  • Reviews construction processes and engineering layouts

  • Reviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues.

  • Oversees field materials testing activities.

  • Oversees CMT laboratory activities including Soils, and concrete.

  • Reviews and signs/seals/ submits construction materials testing reports relevant to the project they are assigned to.

  • Reviews daily inspection reports and other project documentation.

  • Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by client and company needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering-related field (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, etc.) or equivalent

  • 5-7 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer / Construction Manager or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience) on engineering improvement projects valued at $10M and greater.

  • Knowledge of Reservoir construction practices, and understand of geotechnical engineering, and specialty geotechnical construction.

  • Knowledge of USACE construction practices including three-phase quality system, and management/maintenance of USACE validated laboratory.

  • A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents.

  • A working knowledge of regulations and applicable codes, standards, and materials (e.g. USACE, ASTM, FDOT,

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Valid, current Florida Driver's license

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Florida Licensed Professional Engineer preferred or EIT with ability to achieve PE within 6 months from hire date.
