POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our organization’s transition from traditional VMware and Cisco Systems infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based solutions. Your expertise in VMware, Cisco, and AWS technologies will be critical in ensuring a smooth transition and in optimizing our infrastructure for the cloud.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

+ + Design and implement cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring integration with existing on-premise environments and tools.

  • Manage and optimize AWS services, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, and others.

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for efficient deployment and management of cloud resources.

Systems Integration and Migration:

    • Plan and execute the migration of on-premises infrastructure to AWS.
  • Ensure seamless integration of cloud services with existing network, security, and data systems.

Security and Compliance: + + Implement and manage security measures for cloud-based applications and infrastructure.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational security policies.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization: + + Monitor hybrid cloud infrastructure performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively.

  • Optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency in the cloud environment.
Monitoring Platform Maintenance: + + Manage and maintain the ScienceLogic infrastructure monitoring platform to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of the monitored environments.

  • Configure and customize the ScienceLogic platform according to organizational needs, including setting up dashboards, reports, and alerts that meet the specific requirements of different stakeholders.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting: + + Provide technical support for hybrid cloud environments, resolving complex issues effectively.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure high availability and reliability of hybrid cloud services.

  • Off-hours work to support production systems as required.

  • Documentation and Training:

  • Develop detailed documentation on cloud architectures, configurations, and procedures.

  • Accurately and effectively record work performed within Change Management and Project Management tools.

Conduct training sessions for IT staff to enhance cloud competency within the organization

  • 3+ years of API, SQL, and scripting experience

  • 2+ years with AWS or similar cloud management

  • 2+ years with VMware or similar virtualization technologies

  • 2+ years of Cisco networking and/or security experience

  • Experience with Cisco Management Dashboards and their APIs (e.g., Meraki, Umbrella, AMP, DNA Center, StealthWatch, and ISE)

  • Experience with network automation platforms (such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

  • Experience with object-oriented languages (Java, .NET, C++), JavaScript and web services

  • Experience with Ticketing System Integration (ServiceNow)

  • Experience with Network Monitoring Systems (ScienceLogic and ConnectWise Automate)

  • Familiarity with ITIL Framework

  • Familiarity with DevOps culture
