Amazon Site Production Engineer (SMT Engineering) in Taipei, Taiwan

Description

Ring is looking for a qualified, innovative, and experienced Site Production Engineer to join our growing organization. In this position, you will oversee, plan, direct, and coordinate activities that support contractor/suppliers and the manufacturing process for our products. Engineering aptitude, a high attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to optimize the production process are necessary for this role. The Site Production Engineer will formalize the contractor’s production processes and procedures, and strive for continuous productivity and quality improvements.

Key job responsibilities

  • Document current production procedures to e-standardized, and create company standards for improving the production efficiency among contractors/suppliers.

  • Collaborate with the quality department to identify and implement ongoing quality improvements.

  • Maintain knowledge and technical expertise of current production best practices, tools, and techniques and implement them in a reasonable manner.

  • Develop and implement production processes for products, product enhancements, and product changes. Review the design and installation of related fixtures and tooling, as required.

  • Develop and implement enhanced production testing of products.

  • Minimize overall production costs while maximizing productivity.

  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and present production and process data, information, and trends to management.

  • Create and maintain accurate and current documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, and orders in accordance with the Product Development and Quality Assurance functions.

  • Source new equipment and material suppliers as required.

  • Support and review process engineering change notice (ECN) and related Material Review Board (MRB) activities, as required.

  • Assist in the evaluation of returned materials/products.

  • Review contractor/supplier’s operational facility layouts for process improvement.

  • Organize and Support the Manufacturing/Quality System on top of composing the integrative system management.

  • Define and focus on different production lines to ensure quality.

  • Define and initiate tasks.

  • Autonomous planning for team; gives input when requested while defining roadmap.

  • Make proposals for problem solving of bottlenecks.

  • In-depth technical knowledge; knows the effects of deviations within sub system/module on performance of the total system.

  • Lead cross-competency teams for escalation resolution and design improvements.

  • Technical team leader that contributes to the development of sub-modules, and has a responsibility for the results of the sub modules.

  • Know, understand, define, and improve processes and working instructions.

  • Breakdown complex technical or tool problems.

  • Able to give direction irrespective of technical certainties within own level of competence.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Experience identifying and resolving complex issues

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Minimum 8 years of manufacturing/ production engineering experience, with specific experience in electronic devices.

  • Dedicated in using process driven and analytical approaches to problem-solving like Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic web-based tools and products like Outlook, Excel, Word and SharePoint

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • Experience of Six Sigma/ Lean analytical techniques

  • Experience leading process improvements

  • Demonstrated technical skills and experience, preferably wearable device, smart phone, personal computer, consumer electronics, networking or other technology-based industry sector, including a detailed understanding of final assembly, test, pack and SMT processes.

  • Understanding of both ME and EE including RF/Wireless technology of the product, ably to deeply discuss technical issues with engineering teams of CM's factory.
