Providence St. Joseph Health Genetic Counseling Assistant in Seattle, Washington

Description The Genetic Counseling Program Assistant provides education for patients of the clinic, coordinates counseling and testing for patients and documents personal and family history with supervision from the Genetic and other certified Genetic Counselors. Assists with clinic flow; coordinates genetic counseling visits, walk-in clinic, and sample collection. Escorts patients to laboratory for blood draw and/or facilitates saliva collection for genetic testing. Prepares paperwork for laboratory testing, both in and outside of PSJH. Draws and updates pedigrees using software and patient history forms. Enters data into relevant tracking devices. The program assistant works as a team member with other practice staff and consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor. This position provides clinic support to providers working remotely, including contractors. This individual must pay close attention to detail and demonstrate excellent customer service skills with patients and staff. Participation in appropriate continuing education is encouraged. Coursework/Training Genetic Counseling Assistant Course(s) Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/Training Biology Coursework Upon hire: GCA (Genetic Counseling Assistant) Certification 4 years Administrative or program operational/assistant experience. 2 years Oncology and/or Genetics experience. 1 year Experience in a medical setting with experience in medical terminology.
