GE Vernova Lead Test Engineer in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

The Lead Test Engineer works as part of the NPI organization in an international environment and will be responsible for planning and implementing tests that prove all system requirements, working closely with the software/controls and systems engineering functions. This includes but it is not limited to AC systems, DC systems, Power Conversion and Plant-level controls.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement standard test procedures that cover functional design requirements, performance, usability and security.

  • Collaborate with product development teams to understand and review design requirements for testability and provide feedback as needed.

  • Conduct manual and automated testing per test plans.

  • Document test results and create clear, detailed reports for the development team.

  • Determine priority and severity of found defects and lead and track resolution, including root cause identification.

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve efficiency and consistency.

  • Advocate for quality, suggesting process improvements and proactively identifying was to advance testing methodologies.

  • Work closely with product managers, software developers and other stakeholders to coordinate testing activities and deliver high-quality product releases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Science or in STEM from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with operation, maintenance and/or systems integration with a focus on testing

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated expertise with software regression testing.

  • Experience with developing test automation (e.g. Python programming) for both product testing and commissioning.

  • Knowledge of or familiarity with GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA).

  • Experience with BESS systems.

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, etc.

  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical information.

  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills.

  • Curiosity, passion for excellence, drive to deliver on-time.

  • Can present technical plans in voice of customer.

  • Self-start attitude is strongly requested.
