Copeland Senior Product Development Engineer in PUNE, India

Requirement:

BE/BTech – Mechanical

6-8 years of experience in Product Design and Development of compressor or any other rotating machines applied primarily in Refrigeration/Air Conditioning or any other applications with Hands on experience in handling mid to complex projects demanding high proficiency in Mechanical Design/Thermal Engineering

Strong analytical & Design skills in Structural/Thermal Engineering and Hands on Theoretical calculations

Very keen on Creativity and Innovation and self-motivated to drive innovation.

Proficient in applying the technical understanding and design principles to the product design and should be able to correlate with actual product testing

Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and typical assembly and fabrication methods with some emphasis on comprehension of current practices

Experience in using Engineering tools like DFMEA, DFM&A, VAVE, DOE

Experience in Project Management and coordination in day to day work planning, scheduling, Monitoring of Projects

Experience in manufacturing process & ability to corelate manufacturing requirements with design is must

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ; Well conversant with presentation through MS tools and experience of presentation

Excellent command over English language both written and verbal

High on Problem Solving & Decision Making

Creative & Affinity to learn new things

Key Responsibilities

Individual Contributor - handle the projects from start to end with complete project ownership

Responsible to meet the project expectations

  • Provide engineering proposals

  • Perform Design calculations (thermal, machine design & fluid mechanics) Independently

  • Verify functionality/correctness/manufacturability for new design component and product Design

Technology Assessment

  • Addressing the business’s biggest technical challenges for the next 3-5 years

Calculator Development

  • Streamline repetitive calculation to improve productivity and reduce errors

  • Customize calculators to specific needs

  • Enhance existing calculators to improve accuracy

Model Based Design Engineering

  • Work to develop mathematical model as per organization requirement by following development process

  • Support by validating developed model by actual testing/bench testing

  • Support as a user testing of model by developing test cases

Traditional Design / Drafting

  • Generate 3D models for new concepts to feed simulation tools

  • Generate detailed drawings so new concepts can be prototyped

Design for Manufacturability

Designing Component for efficient assembly

  • Standardization / compliance of materials and components

  • Reduction in number of parts

  • Minimizing the amount of manufacturing operations

Advanced Problem Solving

Work to solve critical challenges by

  • Identifying root cause by testing and use of advanced analytical tools such as FEA, CFD

  • Data driven solution

  • Providing innovative solution

Work with various engineering teams to execute the projects in the areas of product development, cost reduction and Technology projects

Conduct Design Reviews and present the work to Business Unit

Coordinate with labs for proto build and performance testing.

Perform validation, test report analysis, and resolve performance issues.

Responsible for project management of the projects - Project planning, scheduling, risk management to ensure that the projects are delivered on time with expected key performance indicators.

Contributing to developing new processes and helping to improve current process to create value and Increase quality & speed of delivery.

Ensure on time delivery & ensuring high Quality of the deliverables.

Ensure quality through defined QC processes, internal peer reviews for all the work & projects.

Use of available state-of-the-art computational technologies (Matlab/Mathcad), and strive for continual improvement

Produce and utilize engineering calculations and operate computer programs (E.g. Excel, Scrolls 13i, and similar as per requirement) to support design, analysis, testing and engineering efforts including spreadsheets and internet resources

Participate in global collaboration efforts with peer engineering facilities to develop advanced tech design packages jointly.
