    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.

  • Able and willing to work holidays and weekends as needed.

  • Recent experience of at least one (1) year in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.

  • Experience working with plumbing, HVAC, and electrical equipment.

  • Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.‎

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Applicants with the following experience will be given preference in hiring:

  • Experience in a long-term care or hospital environment.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    This position deals with the physical plant; grounds; utility; and maintenance functions of the Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans’ Nursing Home to ensure a clean, pleasing, and safe environment. Incumbent will report to the Utilities and Maintenance Superintendent.

  • Assist Utilities and Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Repairmen in the repair and maintenance of the Nursing Home.

  • Ensure environmental controls and equipment are operational and properly maintained.

  • Assist with routine and special inspections to comply with laws, rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Assist with the compilation and reporting of information on energy consumption and vehicle use.

  • Contribute to the implementation of programs for energy conservation.

  • Perform preventative maintenance throughout the facility.

  • Follows FDVA; Homes Program; and facility policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Communicates effectively with staff, residents, and vendors.

  • Follows the preventative maintenance plan.

  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and documents outcomes.

  • Maintain tools, work equipment and work area in a clean, organized manner.

  • Supports a safe and accident-free environment.

  • Is willing to learn new procedures and techniques.

  • Accepts assignments and instruction in an agreeable manner.

  • Attends and completes in-service training per posted training schedule.

  • Other related duties as required.

    This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position.
