Hyatt Assistant Human Resources Director in NEW YORK CITY, New York

Assistant Human Resource Directors is responsible for the design, analysis, evaluation, and implementation of systems, methods, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws, collective bargaining agreement, and corporate policies, procedures, and standards. Oversees daily operation of Human Resources Department.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Expand your skillset as an Assistant Director of Human Resources by managing colleague’s engagement activities, grievances, and general requests in a high-volume office.

  • Acts on behalf of Director of Human Resources in her absence including Labor Relations.

  • Support the oversight, administration, and communication of crucial information related to various Human Resources functions, including but not limited to recruiting, training and development, wage and benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, colleague relations, labor relations and contract compliance, performance evaluations, workers' compensation and safety, employment processes, and general leadership guidance and support.

  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations and laws.

  • Ensures appropriate policies and systems are in place to support organization needs.

  • Serves as claims review officer for unemployment, workers compensation, short- and long-term disability.

  • Monitors and analyzes HR department budget tracking.

  • Supervises Human Resources Team to ensure efficient and effective completion of responsibilities in accordance with department and hotel standards of performance.

  • Documents, reviews, and oversees all Personnel Action Forms.

  • Manages employee relations programs to include, but not limited to, holiday parties, colleague of the month and Leader of the Quarter.

  • Oversees all workers compensation and OSHA tracking, analysis, and follow up.

  • Assist tracking of employees in active and inactive status (Leave of absence, FMLA, COBRA, disability, etc.)

  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of progressive responsibility, experience, and training in Human Resources.

  • Hotel experience preferred.

  • Experience in union environment required.

  • College degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Organizational Development and/or Business Administration.

  • Experience working/managing in a culturally diverse environment.

  • Experience in hotel operations/ knowledge of hotel environment.

DESIRABLE:

  • Advanced training or education in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology and/or Business Administration.

  • Knowledge of applicable HR laws.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Computer Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).

DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of HRIS.

  • Fluent in a foreign language a plus.

Annual Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000

Primary Location: US-NY-New York City
