Medtronic Principal Transvenous Portfolio Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Defibrillation Solutions (DS) business unit tirelessly strives to improve and save the lives of people around the world who are living with heart failure and who are at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. Our industry leading portfolio is primarily centered around implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-D). We are part of the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) integrated operating unit and our portfolio is among the largest revenue and margin contributors across Medtronic.

As Principal Transvenous Portfolio Manager, you will lead the strategic planning efforts of the ICD and CRTD portfolio. You will serve as an invaluable member of multiple core teams to share market trends, gather provider and patient feedback, provide competitive insights, and contribute marketing deliverables throughout the Product Development Process. Your voice will help ensure our portfolio maintains a critical balance of iterative and disruptive solutions to continuously launch a pipeline of innovation for our customers. Your role will also offer thought leadership and market modeling support during our annual long range business planning processes.

This person will report directly to the Vice President of DS Portfolio Strategy and Business Development.

Day in the Life

  • Develop a strategy that highlights opportunities to build and strengthen our future portfolio pipeline

  • Partner with regional marketers across the world to gather insights and considerations about market variability

  • Collaborates with members of Research & Technology, Clinical and the Commercial organization to identify opportunities for portfolio expansion

  • Builds the business case for next-generation programs and presents to senior management to secure investment

  • Identifies market research needs and works with customer insights team to collect voice of customer feedback utilizing multiple methodologies

  • Works closely with physician customers to better understand needs and solicit concept feedback.  Facilitates customer meetings and advisory board discussions

  • Owns all marketing deliverables for assigned early-stage development program(s), including opportunity assessments, claims matrices, and financial model inputs

  • Partners with Clinical, Regulatory, Systems Engineering, Operations, Human Factors Engineering, Research, and other critical functions during the product development process

  • Contributes to the annual strategic planning and annual operating process

  • Develops and delivers executive-level presentations to Medtronic leadership and customers

  • Exercises superior judgment in planning, organizing and executing work; monitors performance and reports program status

This role is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and may be open to remote for qualified candidates.

Must Have: minimum requirements

  • Bachelors degree

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in marketing, business, engineering, or related or advanced degree

  • Experience managing several projects simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • MBA

  • Product management experience

  • Previousexperience in cardiac rhythm in Marketing, Sales, Engineering or related field

  • Strong technical aptitude

  • Market modeling expertise

  • Experience in working with global teams

  • Demonstration of presenting to senior leaders

  • Experience working in a complex, matrixed environment across business units
