Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager, International Devices Data Services in Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Amazon is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager that will own the Business Intelligence (BI) project roadmap for the International Devices Sales & Marketing organization (APAC, BR, EMEA, IN). This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in delivering impactful projects to support a large organization that spans across three different continents. You will be joining the International Devices Data Services (IDDS) team, whose mission is to enable data-driven decision-making by providing data, reporting, and actionable insights to business stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Project Roadmap: Lead the annual intake and planning process to define the project roadmap for a team of Business Intelligence (BI) & Data Engineers distributed across three different continents.

  • Project Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of BI projects from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and resource constraints. Report on status, milestones and goals to stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project objectives, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources efficiently, including engineers, and technology infrastructure, to support project goals and deliverables.

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing and resolving potential issues to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables. Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, balance business needs versus technical constraints

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and best practices, driving initiatives to enhance project management methodologies and increase team efficiency.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and meeting minutes, to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Coordination: Conduct weekly standing meetings across international BI teams to plan and track deliverables.

  • Resolution: Coordinate critical path items, dive deep on technical details, and provide innovative solutions to resolve issues.

A day in the life

You will:

  • Own the annual project planning cycle for the International Data Services team.

  • Own projects from kick-off to completion while executing continual process improvements for operational excellence in the project management space.

  • Manage the sprint planning process, review incoming SIMs/tickets, assign work based on resources, run sprint retrospectives.

  • Represent International Data Services as the primary point of contact in managing projects that vary in complexity, time, and budget.

  • Work at pace with high levels of ambiguity and little guidance, while demonstrating ownership throughout the project life cycle.

  • Lead by influencing stakeholders through requirements gathering, project updates, business meetings, and technical discussions.

About the team

The International Devices Data Services (IDDS) team’s mission is to enable data-driven decision making by providing data, reporting, and actionable insights to Amazon Devices. Our team has a diverse mix of talent, combining Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Engineers, and a Sr Technical Program Manager into a single team which allows us to own data driven solutions end-to-end. We have technical skills across a wide range of technologies and AWS services to deploy solutions at scale. This includes leveraging Python and AWS services like Lambda, S3, and Redshift. The team is distributed across four countries (Luxembourg, Brazil, India, and Japan) and supports the International Devices Sales & Marketing organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management

  • Experience working directly with engineering teams

  • Experience working on data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar BI tools, as well as in data mining and ETL and using databases in a business environment, with large-scale, complex datasets.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or similar field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Experience working with AWS services such as Redshift, S3, and EC2, or similar services
