Corteva Agriscience Research Operations Lead in Grimes, Iowa

Corteva Agriscience™ has an exciting opportunity for a Research Operations Lead joining our Seed Product Development team. The team at our Grimes Seed Logistics R&D center is an integrated and critical team to our product development efforts. The Research Operations lead position will be a key contributor to successfully deliver research seed to R&D Centers across North America. In this role you will use your management and technical expertise to lead the local operations to successfully execute all warehouse and logistics operations. The individual will collaborate closely with other functions in Corteva such as seed product development, global seed logistics network, and engineering and software groups to drive strategy and execution. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a strong background in process management and agriculture R&D, with proven people management and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate the leadership of day-to-day management at the Grimes Seed Logistics R&D Center.

  • Management of a centralized seed handling, inventory, and distribution center.

  • Responsibility to plan, organize, and direct research operations to ensure the most effective use of assets including the management of personnel, budget, capital investment, equipment, and facilities.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans for long and short-term goals and track and report on the performance of the goals.

  • Lead innovative and efficient process development and implementation with an emphasis on quality and accuracy of the workflow

  • Responsible for quality and timely execution of all site operations

  • Conduct and interpret all projects and analyses needed to make strategic decisions in the areas of Process Engineering and Operational Excellence within the R&D center

  • Work in partnership with NA Logistics Lead, Farming Solutions & Digital, Research Automation & Engineering teams and Regional and Global Seed Logistics Network to establish project goals consistent with business goals and strategy.

  • Serve as a bridge between upper management and the project execution team

  • Coach, support and hold employees accountable for achieving performance results and demonstrating work behaviors that promote collaboration and teamwork in an effective manner while demonstrating and modeling Core Values

  • Lead, model and monitor all safety aspects of the project and facility and ensure Corteva safety standards are met.

Qualifications

What Skills You Need:

Education:

Master's Degree with a minimum of 4-6 years experience working in seed ag business or process management, or Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of working experience in same are of expertise.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Research operations knowledge combined with prior management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required

  • Ability to for foster teamwork, enhance a good working environment, and effectively developing strong working relationships with a diverse group of people.

  • Prior experience with process optimization.

  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods.

  • Ability to manage high workload with long hours and weekend work during seasonal peaks.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • People leadership experience managing and support teams and demonstrated passion for people development.

  • Deep knowledge of process improvement, business analytics, operational excellence, and big data analytics.

  • Strong knowledge of the upstream and downstream processes and system applications to ensure a seamless and efficient material and data flow from system to system.

  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate a process and glean process improvement opportunities when available.

  • Strong interpersonal and Project Management/Project Leadership skills

  • Ability to lead the team to achieve best-in-class reliability and successfully work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to remove blockers and deliver on goals.

  • Excellence in management, research operations and leadership.

  • Experience in solving strategically and analytically complex business problems.

  • Ability to gather, curate and analyze the data needed to monitor and manage all activities, including but not limited to monthly/quarterly/annual reporting, metrics and dashboards supporting, analyzing historic results, making business recommendations to senior management based on the analysis, etc.

  • Ability to be organized and show multi-tasking skills while staying attentive to the details.

  • Show an ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment in a high level of competence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences.

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
