Job Description:

As a Talent Development Specialist with the UF Health Cancer Center, you will join our Office of Human Resources and work alongside our Assistant Director to coordinate the UFHCC training program. This is a critical, highly visible role on our HR team and collaborates closely with managers and subject matter experts across the UFHCC.

In your new role you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring Center compliance with training requirements including institutional programs and internally developed series.

  • Working with the Assistant Director to manage the Center’s learning and development resources including:

  • Using needs assessments to develop new resources including basic multimedia development/editing, technical writing, etc.;

  • Sourcing external resources and curating materials for internal use;

  • Interviewing SMEs for internal resource development;

  • Deploying and maintaining course content in UFHCC and institutional LMS (Learning Management System), including Canvas and other platforms.

  • Facilitating group training online and in-person, both as a presenter and in support of subject matter experts to drive discussion, answer questions, and enhance the learning experience.

This is position is ideal for candidates with experience in instructional design, multimedia development, and curriculum development who want to further their career in training and development or for candidates with established experience in HR with an interest in specializing in talent development. A baseline understanding of learning science, informational design, and accessibility standards is essential to long-term success in this position. Expected Salary:

Talent Development Specialist I: $22 - $25, hourly

Talent Development Specialist II: $57,500 - $65,000, annually

Classification and compensation level will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications, commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Talent Development I: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Talent Development II: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

Talent Development Specialist I:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training/Development, Human Resources, Journalism, or similar discipline.

  • Some experience in training and/or content development, preference given to experience in healthcare and/or research, particularly in higher education.

  • Education and/or exposure to basic learning science concepts, adult learning theory, information design, and/or multimedia development.

Talent Development Specialist II:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training/Development, Human Resources, Journalism or similar discipline.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in training and/or content development, preference given to experience in healthcare and/or research, particularly in higher education.

  • Fundamental understanding of basic learning science concepts, adult learning theory, information design, and/or multimedia development.

  • Some experience in group facilitation and/or instruction both in-person and online over Zoom or similar platforms.

Qualities:

  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.

  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information.

  • Proven sense of professional ethics and conduct, understanding and effectively using and applying Emotional Intelligence strategies and skills.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong instructional skillset with a focus on adult learning design and delivery rooted in andragogical theory and practice.

  • Skills in storyboard design, storytelling, and/or information design to support the learning and/or instructional process.

  • Ability to successfully work independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner.

  • Proficient time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, anticipate and identify conflicts, and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion.

  • Capacity and/or basic skills with common course authoring tools (e.g. Camtasia, Articulate 360, etc.).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Professional certification in HR (e.g. through HRCI or SHRM) or Talent Development (e.g. through ATD) will be required at the earliest of one year from hire or eligibility.
