Contract services include providing the maintenance, equipment, and labour to complete the job.

Harsco Rail offers contract services for Rail Grinding and has been grinding rail for over 50 years, covering more than 300,000 km (192,000 miles) in the last 7 years.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Undertake a programme of training to gain full working knowledge in all aspects of Maintenance.

  • Learn to carry out scheduled maintenance and repairs on the Stoneblower Fleet.

  • Support the existing maintenance team to maximise machine availability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Maths English C+ / level 4-9 / function Skills Lv.2

Technical Skills

Knowledge & understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, electronic, fault finding & repair

  • IT literate including basic knowledge of Microsoft systems

  • Calibration & understanding of rail plant operating

  • Competent in current maintenance standards

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Completion of all college units in the appropriate timeframes and to a level that satisfies the management team.

  • Integrate work experience into college theory work and provide management with quarterly presentation updates.

  • Use and interpret a range of engineering data sources and supporting documentation.

  • Maintain electrical & electronic equipment

  • Apply of a complex blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.

  • Support the existing maintenance team with servicing and minor repairs, making sure their completed within required timeframe.

  • Condition of machine

  • 5S within depot

  • Complete administration tasks in a timely manner

  • Submission of completed maintenance documentation

  • Quality of maintenance documentation

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Complete all college work within the set deadline periods, and complete work to a high standard.

  • Provide management with a quarterly presentation outlining the work completed during the period with “lessons learnt” section at the end.

  • Report any defects found on machine & carry out repairs within required competency level for the role or under instruction from skilled engineer or supervisor

  • Ensure planned maintenance duties are completed in line with company policies & procedures & work instructions

  • Ensure working environment is maintained as required by 5S

  • Inform supervisor of any issues / problems in a timely manner, which are outside your remit of control

  • Operate machine for maintenance purposes, as required

  • Ensure regularly updated & compliant with company policies & procedures

  • Awareness of company communication via notice boards

  • Be responsible for the care of company assets

  • To undertake training as required

  • Ensure compliance with competence assessment systems

  • Comply with the Company Code of Conduct

  • Only undertake work for which you have been trained and (if required) certified competent

  • To comply with Risk Assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.

  • Maintain and utilise all PPE provided by the employer

  • Co-operate with your employer on health, safety and environment

  • Make safe any unsafe conditions where practical and challenge unsafe work practices

  • Report all, and assist with investigating relevant accidents, incidents, and near misses

  • Maintain and utilise all PPE provided by the employer .

  • Complete all college course work and assessments when required.

  • Complete annual maintenance tasks inclusive of repairs on the Stoneblower fleet which falls within competence.

  • Complete training required by employer.
