Overall General Job Function

The Business Execution Director will collaborate, lead and partner with Zions Capital Markets (“ZCM”) Leadership and senior managers to establish business priorities, influence and drive major initiatives, and represent ZCM on numerous work streams/initiatives/requests, some of which may be initiated outside of ZCM. This role requires a collaborative individual capable of initiating action and managing change in a fast paced environment as well as strong relationship management, influencing, vision and execution skills. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement. They will also have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholders of all seniority levels across the enterprise.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver various programs, initiatives, and requests across the Capital Markets division to improve operating performance (efficiency and effectiveness), mitigate risks, and grow our platform

  • Partner with Senior Capital Market’s leaders, managers, and key internal constituents, including Risk Management (Market Risk, Compliance, Counterparty Risk, Operational Risk, etc.), Technology, Enterprise Project Management Office, Legal, Finance, Audit, and all other internal partners to accomplish these responsibilities

  • Ensure thoughtful and robust change management routines in place prior to execution

  • Research complex business, operational, risk, and strategic initiatives that require analytical skills, organizational strategy, and understanding of capital markets products/services, including applicable regulations, laws, and industry best practices to yield specific recommendations or remediations

  • Present recommendations to support growth opportunities, infrastructure & risk management enhancements, and operational efficiency & effectiveness

  • Assist in the annual strategic planning process, partnering with ZCM Leaders and Managers to document key projects, initiatives, growth plans, and efficiency efforts

  • Ensure processes, controls, and work products are fully compliant with all applicable regulations, rules, and internal policies. Create or assist with the creation of internal ZCM procedures, processes, and/or controls and any related documentation and review/approval processes

  • Draft or assist in the drafting of internal and external presentation and or communication materials. These could take the form of portfolio/initiative updates, committee submissions/presentations, key constituent reviews/inquiries (including Internal Audit), team meetings, and regulatory requests/examinations

  • Partner with key vendors/service providers, ensuring that the ZCM business in realizing their maximum potential. Ensure service levels are maintained and appropriate risk management measures are established and thoughtfully managed

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensures activities are well managed and optimized

  • Ad hoc tasks, special projects, and other duties as assigned

    Years of Experience and Education

    Requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field and 10+ years of Business Management, Management Consulting, Business Operations and/or Project Management experience in Financial Services. A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.

    Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Capital Markets COO function a plus

  • Deep knowledge of capital markets products, services, and markets including sales & trading, banking, advisory, etc.

  • Deep knowledge of Capital Markets Industry norms, best practices, etc.

  • Deep knowledge of change management, process improvement, product development and project delivery methodologies, including Agile

  • Deep experience working with internal teams to prepare materials for review and approval by senior management and/or committee(s)

  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic planning and execution

  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals across the Capital Markets organization

  • Knowledge and understanding of process/control design, modeling, and development

  • Ability to identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls

  • Experience in understanding and interpreting regulations and internal policies to assessing the adequacy of new/modified policies, procedures and processes, and controls

  • Deep knowledge of applicable capital markets regulations (OCC, FINRA, MSRB, CFTC, etc.)

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication (both verbal and written) skills

  • High level of focus on work quality and attention to detail

  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Expert spreadsheet and presentation developer

  • Ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Ability to learn and apply complex concepts quickly

  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines and effective time management

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and track details

  • Deep experience implementing capital markets technology projects

  • Deep experience and domain knowledge of Capital Markets Technology, Risk Management (Market Risk, Counterparty Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, Model Risk, etc.), Legal, Finance, Project Management Office, and Model Development departments and activities

  • Experience with one or more risk programs highly desirable: Market Risk, Counterparty Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, Strategic Risk, Business Continuity Planning, Business Process Management, Issues Management, Regulatory Relations, Records Management, Third Party Risk/Sourcing, Risk & Control Self Assessments, Model Development & Validation, and Non-Model Governance

  • MBA, CFA, FRM, PRM, and/or PMP a plus
