About the Role

The Position

The Intern will be joining the APAC Legal Team for a six months’ internship program, starting from June 2024. The position offers an invaluable opportunity for the Intern to learn the business of a leading global asset management firm in the financial industry as well as gain a first-hand experience on the in-house legal function. The Intern will be based in Hong Kong working in collaboration with legal counsel, associates and administrative staff of the APAC Legal Team as well as within the global Legal & Enterprise Risk department. The Intern will participate in both ongoing initiatives and new short-term projects, in relation to financial regulatory developments, corporate governance, and contractual documentation and be welcomed to contribute ideas for improving our process as a member of the team. The Intern will enjoy a close working relationship with various business lines in the company, including Client Group, Compliance, Trading and Operations in providing client documentation, researching internal information, and researching regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

We are seeking one Intern for this role; Responsibilities include, most recently:

  • Client and corporate related document review and production

  • Legal & regulatory research

  • Database population & document management

  • Gap analysis

  • Record retention

  • Signature coordination

  • Drafting internal procedures

Qualifications

Qualifications/Attributes

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Economics, Finance or related field is preferred. Applicants should be in their penultimate year of study.

  • Demonstrated accomplishments in academics, community service, and/or extracurricular activities.

  • Highest ethical standards and integrity

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • An eagerness to learn, and interest in financial markets and financial regulations

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with an ability to prioritize ongoing and time sensitive goals

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, fluency in Asian language skills (e.g. Mandarin, Japanese or Korean) is advantageous

  • Students must have Hong Kong work authorization to be considered for the role.
