Job Description

Responsibilities

Yard Laborers are responsible for a variety of tasks that are critical to the operation of the equipment yard. The Yard Laborer will greet customers while assisting them with the check in process of equipment as well as loading and unloading. The Yard Laborer is also responsible for cleaning equipment and ensuring the equipment yard remains organized and well maintained. Additional tasks will be assigned as needed by the Operations, Regional, or Shop Managers.

  • Approach every assignment with your personal safety and the safety of your teammates in mind
  • Maintain your assigned work area in a safe, clean, well-organized manner, free of slip and trip hazards, and free of clutter at all times, including in the shop and service trucks
  • Create a World Class experience for our internal and external customers in every interaction
  • Assist in loading or unloading of equipment, material, or supplies
  • Organize and maintain the equipment yard
  • Clean equipment using high pressure hot water systems with various types of cleaners
  • Check in and triage equipment, documenting damage and providing this information to the shop service manager
  • Perform daily checks of green tagged equipment ensuring rent readiness
  • Work independently or as a team with other yard or shop personnel
  • Provide information to the counter or shop as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of general work experience preferred
  • Valid Drivers License required
  • Tools needed to perform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Experience using computers and basic typing skills are required
  • Ability to follow all applicable safety standards, rules, laws, and procedures
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including heavy construction equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to record information in the proper manner in both written work orders and computer databases
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and customers

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather
  • Ability to position the body to effect repairs in confined spaces, such as underneath dashboards, under vehicles, etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to reach, hold, position, maneuver, and operate hand tools and replacement parts
  • Ability to identify wires, and other parts by color and other identifying information
  • Ability to use fine hand and finger movements to identify and work on parts not always visible
  • Ability to lift, carry, position, and hold parts weighing up to 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance during repairs and with mechanical assistance, that could exceed 500 pounds
