Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Aggregate and Standardize Data : Efficiently gather information from diverse sources, standardize it, and accurately input or update it in the Oracle database, reflecting the most recent updates.

  • Quality Assurance : Perform daily checks on Oracle and spatial data. Employ the 4Cs of information quality - Completeness, Currency, Consistency, Correctness - to not only preserve but also enhance the quality of the database content.

  • Data Sourcing Support : Aid the data acquisition process pertinent to exploration and production activities within the designated region.

  • Historical Data Management : Oversee the archival data in the database. Lead and engage in data enhancement initiatives via comprehensive reviews at global, country, basin, or area levels by the team.

  • Database and Report Synchronization : Guarantee that the well database remains consistent and aligned with IHS Markit’s upstream intelligence reports.

  • Client Support : Assist country and regional specialists in addressing inquiries and fulfilling requests related to well data.

What We’re Looking For:

We are on the lookout for an exceptionally driven and analytically minded individual to enhance our team. The primary duties will involve meticulous data entry, maintenance, and quality assurance of predominantly International Well Data within the S&P IRIS 21 relational database system. This role entails comprehensive research, in-depth analysis, and systematic reporting on Exploration & Production (E&P) Wells. The role will be a key member of the Upstream team and is required to also participate in Well data projects within the region of coverage.

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related field of science.

  • A solid grasp of petroleum geology and principal drilling operations.

  • Prior experience in the oil and gas sector is advantageous.

  • A keen interest in overseeing and processing geo-technical information.

  • Proficiency in transforming technical data into a format suitable for database integration.

  • Competency in interpreting satellite imagery.

  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Windows, the MS Office suite, and web navigation. Experience with relational databases is beneficial.

  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping tools like ArcGIS, as well as foundational geodesy concepts (datums, projections, coordinate systems, transformations).

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

  • Ability to work well within a team, exhibit proactive conduct, and operate under direct supervision following the team’s established protocols.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related field of science.

  • Demonstrable expertise in utilizing ArcGIS software.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the life cycle of a well, encompassing all stages from planning to decommissioning.
