Insight Global Bioinformatics Cloud Developer in Arlington, Virginia

Job Description

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Cloud Developer to aid in developing and managing cloud-based bioinformatics software and systems that support our customer's research and development efforts. Your expertise in bioinformatics, combined with cloud computing skills, will assist in a proof of concept stage for the National Cancer Institute.

  • Support the implementation of a Multiscale Machine-Learned Modeling Infrastructure (MuMMI) framework which employs a model to explore interactions between lipids and proteins over large length and time scales using AWS high performance computing infrastructure.

  • Propose and implement novel bioinformatics analysis strategies adapted to analytical needs.

  • Work closely with the AWS HPC team members to implement the code available in GitHub (that was developed on a supercomputer) in the AWS cloud environment.

  • Design and implement bioinformatics applications and pipelines for cloud environments.

  • Optimize existing bioinformatics tools for cloud deployment, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

Work closely with scientists to translate bioinformatics needs into robust cloud solutions.

Skills and Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree or Master's degree or the equivalent years of experience in a related field, which may be considered as a substitute for the formal educational credential.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.

  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and services. * Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis.

  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques applied to biological data.

  • Understanding of genomic data privacy and ethical considerations. null
