Amentum has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Horticulturalist to join their team in Alice Springs, NT - Australia.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Officer - Landscaping, the horticulturalist provides support to the Vesta program though expert guidance for developing, maintaining, and improving the grounds for various properties. This includes ensuring the planting, management and cultivating of plants, tree and flowers are conducted. Furthermore, the horticulturalist will be responsible for ensuring proper irrigation systems are in place to maintain the look and integrity of the greenery.

Additionally, the horticulturalists may be involved in providing support to environmental/landscaping projects and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintaining lawns and gardens at residential properties and unit complexes.

• Maintenance and development of irrigation/reticulation systems.

• Develop, maintain, and improve the grounds and landscaping

• Provide technical advice as required

• Propagation of native plants and basic knowledge of tree care

• Planting, pruning and maintenance of shrubs and trees.

• Safe and professional use of tools and equipment and be able to perform routine maintenance on small machinery.

• Undertake all work in a safe and professional manner.

• Report any incidents to management as a priority.

• Work as part of a team.

• Use of computer systems to record and plan work tasks.

• Other duties as directed by the Vesta management team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Essential

• Certificate II in Horticulture

• Certificate III or IV in Horticulture

• Ability to work in a team environment

Desirable

• Certificate III or IV in Horticulture

• Chainsaw Operators’ Certificate

• Small Machinery Maintenance Certificate

• Sound knowledge of installation and maintenance of reticulation systems

TICKETS AND LICENCES

Minimum Essential

• Current Driver’s License

Desirable

• HR Driver’s Licence

EXPERIENCE – Minimum Essential

• At least 2 years’ experience in horticultural/garden maintenance work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Horticultural/gardening in Alice Springs can be hot and physical work. Typical tasks include but are not limited to pushing a hand mower, raking leaves, digging, pruning, cleaning gutters and reticulation repairs

• Ability to lift up to 10 kg independently.

• Able to coordinate the actions of a small team.

• Demonstrated preparedness to step up and take charge.

• Function in a hot desert environment.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

• At least 18 years of age.

• Able to fluently read, write and speak English

• Australian or US citizen

EHS REQUIREMENT
