Amazon Sr. Program Manager, Worldwide Specialist Org in Seattle, Washington

The AWS Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is seeking an experienced, data-driven, and entrepreneurial Sr. Program Manager (PM). This individual will report to the Head of Program Management and will primarily be responsible for developing cross-team programs to drive acceleration and support of go-to-market and employee engagement initiatives and mechanisms.

The ideal candidate has a collaborative work style and an innovative mindset. They will have experience communicating with globally-dispersed teams in-person and virtually, and experience with using data to driven decision making to develop new initiatives and mechanisms, and address key needs of the organization. They will bring relevant experience, superior judgement, great follow-through, and strong problem-solving and communications skills to this role.

The right candidate will bring a proven track-record managing business programs and the ability to earn trust with senior leadership, work effectively with cross-functional and cross-regional teams, demonstrate a proven track record of discovering and applying insights toward creating new mechanisms that build and scale, and will always “roll up the sleeves” to get things done. Being able to translate your skillsets into a customer-obsessed, data-driven Amazon culture, and operating effectively in a fast-moving cross-functional environment to drive clear outcome and results is key to your success in this role.

Key job responsibilities

• Balance competing priorities, manage stakeholder expectations, and navigate complex decision-making processes.

• Creating and maintaining multiple, concurrent and matrixed program plans

• Building processes to ensure integration with globally-dispersed internal teams

• Provide clear and timely communication to the team, management, and stakeholders on status, risks, and changes in writing and via in-person / remote meetings

Our web services provide a platform for IT infrastructure in-the-cloud that is used by many thousands of developers and businesses around the world. These customers range from start-ups to leading web companies to Global 2000 companies in financial services, pharmaceuticals, and technology. This team sits within AWS and drives short-term and long-term growth around our services. Our team consists of Technical Business Development (who drive go-to-market strategy), Solutions Architects (technical experts), and Program Managers (driving business efficiency, creating scaling mechanisms, etc.).

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of leading large complex programs experience

  • PMP

  • Successful record of building, improving, and running business processes globally

  • Demonstrated program ownership and consistent delivery on commitments

  • Well-honed analytical skills, comfortable working with data and developing insights from it, experience establishing and tracking program metrics, and experience with experimental design

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills - ability to interface with all levels of the organization, specific strength in influencing decision makers and managing expectations

  • Experience identifying and resolving complex issues, and assuming leadership roles in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
