As a Storm Drainage Engineer , you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting and engaging infrastructure projects including some of the region’s leading large-scale projects for local agencies and municipalities.

Our Bellevue-based Water Team is seeking a Mid-Level Storm Drainage Engineer to work on storm drainage planning, design, and construction documents for water, transportation, and site development projects. In this position you will work on stormwater design and hydraulic modeling for a variety of water-resources related projects including water quality retrofits and habitat restoration, and transportation projects including roadway, site development, highway, transit, and light rail extensions. Work may include design from concept level to final construction documents including writing and assembling stormwater and hydraulic reports. Candidates with a wide variety of design experience would be viewed favorably. Typical activities may include performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, providing detailed calculations, and producing construction plans, drainage reports, specifications, and cost estimates. Hydrology and hydraulic models used for typical projects include WWHM, MGSFlood, and others required to meet State and local agency requirements. Under the mentorship of senior level staff, you will have the opportunity to exercise judgment and make recommendations in the development and creation of storm drainage plans for complex, multi-disciplined projects, potentially with multiple types of construction delivery methods including design-build. The base salary range for this position is $75,800 to $132,600. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in hydrology and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, and watershed modeling

  • Ability to work independently and manage design tasks

  • Have a Washington PE license, or have the qualifications and ability to attain a Washington PE license within the next 2 years

  • Strong experience with CAD design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)

  • Experience with hydrologic modeling using Western Washington Hydraulic Model or MGS Flood

Ideally, You'll Also Have:

  • Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Experience in consulting for public agencies

  • Familiarity with Washington State Department of Ecology, WSDOT, King County, and City of Seattle Drainage design manuals

  • Experience working on Sound Transit, Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT), City of Seattle, or other regional agency projects

  • Familiarity with developing Temporary Erosion Sediment Control (TESC) plans and Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (CSWPPP)

  • Microstation Inroads or Openroads design experience

  • Envision Sustainability Professional or LEED Accredited Professional
