AWS Enterprise Support is seeking a driven, talented and experienced Senior Systems Development Manager to lead a team of talented systems development engineers, product and program managers. Our development teams build software solutions to improve business operations and service delivery for strategic AWS customers, improving the delivery of AWS Enterprise Support. These solutions range from internal web tooling for our internal customer workflows, automated business operations workflows, through to scalable analytics to identify business insights.

A Senior Systems Development Manager in Enterprise Support works with their teams to provide scalable, reliable, and secure solutions, building new features and capabilities, taking ownership over the service's operations, stability and security, handling customer escalations, building teams and processes, collaborating with business stakeholders and other internal delivery teams, and innovating for our customers.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the opportunity that AWS presents, and about technology and management in general.

Key job responsibilities

• Work effectively with other technical leaders

• Influence other team roadmaps to ensure dependencies are understood and met, often acting as a vendor manager to other AWS development teams

• Independently manage one or more development teams and manage senior system development engineers

• Define the 3 year strategic vision, have a long-term roadmap

• Build leaders, effectively delegating responsibility over portions of software architecture

• Identify large risks, endemic problems, areas of opportunity/customer value and when needed, are able to influence other teams to collaborate with your team(s)

• Create a culture of innovation, encouraging your team(s) to find new and better ways to evolve software and achieve goals

• Champion systems development engineering and operational excellence best practices in your team and influence other teams in your organization

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience

• 5+ years of engineering team management experience

• 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

• Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $158,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $307,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
